Finished it !!!

Well, it has taken me a little longer than anticipated. There were brocantes to attend on two days ( and buy from, omg, so many gorgeous new treasures ) and neighbours to feed ( we had friends over for dinner yesterday ), and there was a little sunshine to make the most of in the veggie patch. So I just didn't have time to do what I so wanted to do - get on with the fabric cuff, for which Sandy Babb from the beautiful Quill Cottage blog had written such a fantastic tutorial. If you have ever wanted to make a fabric cuff, go check out the tutorial, it really is absolutely fabulous.

There were lots of things I needed for the cuff, which I didn't have with me here in France, like seed beads to make those beautiful leaves with, or a nice big rose, or the right kind of ink, or stamp, or embroidery thread, or velcro etc etc, so I had to improvise a bit. But I did it, I finished it this afternoon in my craftavan! I used some gorgeous antique French lace, seed pearls, Swarovski crystals, and a few petals from a flower garland in the cottage, a few little beads, a snippet of Battenburg tape lace, errm, what else? Can't remember. Just take a look at the pics,  lol -

This is what I had shown you in a previous post, the fabrics I used for the base, and the completed base -

And this is the embellished completed cuff -

I have tiny wrists, so it was a challenge to get lots of embellishments onto the cuff. There are a couple of things I would do differently the next time, but I am quite happy with the end result. I might just have to make another cuff, or two..........

Don't forget to hop over to Sandy's blog and check out the tutorial, it is incredibly detailed and just briliant. I would have never attempted a fabric cuff without her.

OHHHH my dear Liz,
your cuff is such beautiful and lovely finished! You have found wonderful little things to add, even you "only" had your craftavan materials to use. It looks so gorgeous on your arm, and you made a wonderful art piece from the bits and pieces used to create this beauty!
Enjoy wearing it- and happy weekend!
Hugs,Dorthe-

It must have been fun stitching it up. What a great way to use up shabby scraps!

That is so pretty! I have seen a few made with venise lace, but not a CQ type before. It is so sweet and feminine. I love your fabrics as well as your embellishments. can't wait to see what else you will show us!!!!
Have a great Sunday, which is Sunday for us in the US. Hope yours was wonderful!

The cuff is beautiful. You did an excellent job. I, too, have very small wrists and embellishing a personal cuff is a challenge. I've made a few but we are still in long sleeves here in Flagstaff, AZ, USA, so I haven't worn them. Soon enough to show them off. Keep up the great artwork. And I have to ask: You have a "craftavan"? Is this a separate little van just for you to use to create artwork while visiting France?
