French Country Cottage Heart

Yesterday started so beautifully, misty, but with the sun trying to break though, casting a pearly shimmer over everything. I was up early and didn't want to waste any time just hanging about, so after walking the doggies, I went over to my craftavan and started on a little project. We had been invited to dinner with our lovely French friends Olivier and Annick, and I wanted to take a little something with me, a petit cadeau.

I had a small piece of vintage French ticking, a bit of cotton fabric, and a beautiful lace applique, which my wonderful friend Alexandra had sent me ( along with many other things, post is coming soon ). I wanted something fairly plain and unfussy, and cottagy, and this is what I came up with -

I just added the little pearl dangly at the bottom and used a piece of the vintage Battenburg lace tape for the hanger. I do love hearts. Especially hearts made with vintage French ticking fabric. And filled with lavender from the garden.

After I had finished the heart, I got out into the garden and started getting some seeds into pots and trays. It was soooo lovely to feel the warm sunshine on my skin, and it was a real pleasure getting the seeds in, and a few plants  into the ground. By 3pm it started clouding over though. Of course, the good weather didn't last, and as we left the house to go over to our friends around 7pm, the heavens opened. Impeccable timing, lol. We we treated to a massive thunderstorm as a background to a fabulous meal. They are wonderful cooks and had prepared some regional dishes for us, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We are so lucky to live in this tiny community and have such dear friends.

Today is a very soggy day yet again, sigh, but hopefully by Sunday things will have improved. Gotta go to some brocantes!!!

Wishing you all a very happy weekend,

I totally know the anxiety, the joy,and the dissapointment if the weather don`t cooperate and one have to stay at home!!!
Wonderful you have such lovely friends there, and are treated with tasty dinners, and cosy visits... I`m sure Annick loves your beautiful heart, that with lavender, smells so very good!

Oh Yes I'm so glad you had such a lovely evening meal with Annick and Olivier and so close by - not far at all to travel!
The heart is so sweet in that lovely French ticking (love that fabric!) and it combines so beautifully with the laces too.
Wishing for you some wonderful Brocante weather Liz this weekend
and even more lovely sunshine for gardening.
Hopeful hugs,
Suzy
