White Wednesday - mother-of-pearl buttons

Is there anybody out there who doesn't love MOP buttons? Well, to be fair, I suppose there could be one or two people who are not at all moved by the beautiful shimmer of those delicate beauties. I just haven't come across any in blogland yet.

I dug out a few of my buttons for today's WHITE WEDNESDAY over at the beautiful FADED CHARM blog. There are French MOP buttons in all sizes on cards -

There even are English MOP buttons on card -

There are huge MOP buttons -

and there are tiny little MOP buttons -

There are MOP buttons with shanks -

square buttons -

and there are very shiny and colourful MOP buttons -

This is a gorgeous old French MOP cufflink -

My favourite ones are these beautifully carved buttons -

Sweet little things, which give me great pleasure.

I am linking this post to WHITE WEDNESDAY at FADED CHARM. Take a lot at all the other beautiful white posts.

Mop buttons are so beautiful. I don't need to use them, I just own them to look at.

The French cufflink is stunning, and the post is a different design to the English ones. xx

Oh yum, yum, yum! How lovely - very simple but beautiful.

People who won't like the MOP buttons include two of my friends who are button-phobic (there is a word for it - can't remember it!). One of them is Betty from the blog Betty the Garden Fairy, but she's so sweet, I can't hold it against her! The other one used to come Charity Shopping with me - can you imagine the potential conflict there? She used to stand outside the shop and shudder if I found a button box.

Oh, what gorgeous eye candy! You have hit on one of my biggest collecting obsessions, especially the carved ones, and the ones that are still on the card. Oh, and I love the teensy tiny ones, too. And the ones with the threads still attached. I can't seem to get enough, can't ever pass them by. Great post!

Hi Liz. Mother of pearl are one of my favorites! I love the feel of the high luster ones. Coins from the sea. Lace trimings oh my gosh there is nothing prettier. These little tid-bits made with such incredible skill and time. Older handmade lace is the best. Hope you are having a good day, love Louise

I love these buttons, Liz!
The ceramic french buttons I was telling you about that I have seen at the antique store look like these but they are not MOP. They are a shiny gray. The cards are the same type and there are lots of buttons on each card...both sides of the card are filled.

I am so glad you are taking care of yourself. I need a list of all the things you are doing....I need to do them too...I guess I can be a big girl and figure it out myself....
Hugs to you....
