Lavender Angel

I do love the scent of lavender, and I adore old images of angels. So I decided to combine the two and make a lavender sachet with a little image of a beautiful angel. I used an antique hand loomed French linen, blue striped vintage French ticking, a very old blue and white ribbon, vintage lace, vintage hand embroidered French broderie anglaise, MOP buttons , and some fairly new flower trims. Ah, and of course poils, I do love the subtle shimmer of faux pearls. The sachet hangs from a velvet ribbon, so that it can be used as a door hanger or perhaps hung in the wardrobe to scent the clothes -

It takes me ages to put together a fabric collage like this. I keep adding bits, taking away bits, changing placements, it makes me laugh actually, the way I fuss and fiddle. Wanna see some of the stages this sachet went through?

I had already discarded at least half a dozen versions before I thought I'd take a pic. Just in case I fiddled too much and wanted to go back to this version. Or the next......

A dozen versions later and I am quite happy with the one I finally ended up with. And oh, it smells so good, I do love lavender.

I am linking this post to VINTAGE INSPIRATION FRIDAY over at Debra's Common Ground blog. Aaah, so many gorgeous things to look at!

Oh, that really is pretty, and I bet it was fun designing how it would go. How funny that we both posted lavender items on the same day. Lavender is so lovely. Ours is now blooming in the garden.

Hi Liz - yes the perfect result. I think we all suffer from the same disease but it is how we create isn't it? The angel image is lovely, the pearls, lace and buttons, not to mention the Lavender fragrance which we never tire of.
Hugs,
Suzy

Liz your sachet is just beautiful! The poils are perfect! ;)
You sound just like me! Once I get my fabric collage the way I want them-it takes no time to get them sewn together. It just the fiddling with them that takes me so long! I fuss and fuss!
Thanks for sharing with us-and for making me realize-I'm not the only one!:)

Hugs,

Sonya
