Romantic White Christmas WIP

I am way way way behind with my projects from the fabulous Romantic White Christmas workshop, sigh. At the moment, my doggies are demanding most of my time. They have become so used to being with my husband all day long, since he retired almost a year ago. My poor DH is on jury duty for a couple of weeks, and away all day, and my doggies are feeling all lonely and neglected, so I am spending lots of time with them, playing with them, cuddling them. Not that I mind that at all, but I want to make things!!!

One of the projects was a little bejewelled Christmas tree ornament. I liked it so much that I decided to make a garland with those dear little trees for the drawing room fireplace. I still have 3 more trees to get ready, but at least you can sort of see, with a bit of imagination, lol, what the garland will look like. I used old music scores for the trees, painted a couple of coats of a metallic paint over them, which makes them shine like silver when the light catches them, and then decorated them with narrow laces and pearls from a vintage necklace, vintage French sparklies and German glass glitter . I also altered the Noel piece slightly, made it a lot lighter, and traced the letters with the most fabulous silver ink pen Karla had recommended. It is quite a subtle effect in normal light, but under artificial light, wow, it sparkles beautifully.

Sparkle is so difficult to photograph, especially when the days are as grey and horrid as they have been here lately. If you click on the pics and enlarge them, you might just see the daylight shimmer, and the artificial light sparkle ( last one ) -

Eventually, when I finish the other trees and Noels, they should make a lovely garland, strung onto a narrow lace probably, or perhaps a silk ribbon, not sure yet. Can you kinda picture it in your imagination?

Fingers crossed, perhaps I'll get some peace and quiet tomorrow to finish it off.

On a more serious note. I turned my word verification off a little while ago, after reading something Anne said on her blog. Since then, I have had a few very annoying Anonymous posts. So I will have to go back to word verification again, sorry, friends, and if that won't stop it, then I'll have to go the "approval" route.

Those are so charming. I am laughing my head off when you say you are behind. I am not only behind...I have not started yet and, in fact, did not realize we had started! I have been busy at Silver Bella and now came back to preparations for a jewelry sale and i just want to have fun. It looks like you have a wonderful blog here!

Your garland will look just beautiful, Liz!
Are you still waiting for Alexandra's package to arrive? If yes, I hope it will come soon! All your swap gifts to her were wonderful! The bag was awesome and I also loved the sweet cone, the cushion and of course the laces.
I don't mind the word verification at all. It takes only a few seconds to type it in.
Have a great day!
Hugs to you,
Julia

It's going to look super, clever you.
Why do people feel they can leave anonymous messages, I wonder. Very cowardly.

Boo to annoying people! Your new garland is going to look sooo pretty. I love the sparkly bits on it very much. I think your Noel tags would make pretty gift tags or bookmarks as well. I can't use Noel at Christmas as it's my father's name, wouldn't that be favouritism?

Liz, if you use moderated comments it's more friendly to your regulars. I don't know if mine asks you to do word verification too or not but I love the moderated facet! I simply delete the bad posts and they are never approved to the blog. Spammers are wasting their time on my blog! LOL!
I JUST LOVE YOUR LITTLE TREES!!!
They look so easy and fun to make!
Hmmm...I'm inspired!
Hugs,
Diane

Yes I can picture it. It's going to look wonderful. I love the creative ways you use paper and lace etc.
It's amazing how many people visit blogs with an alterior motive - like the chinese writing in 'comments' that contain a bug. What pleasure do these people get from doing it? Do what you can to safeguard your blog. xx

I LOVE THIS GARLAND!!! I am going to have to look for more old music, I can see that. My friend uses it quite a bit, but I think she may use music scrapbook paper. I have had a hard time finding it at antique stores in book form. I have some old piano lessons music, but it is not as pretty as the real music. All the other music I have we actually USE! So I will be in trouble if I cut THAT us! LOL Love the Noel tags and the trees, you are so creative!

I keep coming back to enjoy these tags, Liz....I just can't help myself! LOLOL I am tired of wet floors in my basement! They are all drying now, however!
Did you put up a picture of the garland when you were able to get it finished? I would love to see a picture of it!
