France Post 6 - A Little Stroll through a French Town

I know I promised to show the linens today, and I know a lot of you are waiting to see them, but I haven't had time to photograph them yet! But come hell or high water, I'll photograph them tomorrow and post tomorrow as well, lol, AND............ just to make up for the long wait I will list some of them in Vintageland! Gorgeous monogrammed antique linen towels with THAT RED STRIPE, exquisite monogrammed damask serviettes, gorgeous monogrammed antique linen sheets, oh and perhaps a few 19th C lace bundles as well.

But, that will just have to wait til tomorrow, today I am taking you on a womble through a small town close to where we live in France. I know I usually prattle on and on, so just for a change, this time, there will be lots of pictures, but few words -

One quite often sees religious statues with old houses. I found this tiny madonna and child in a little niche so beautiful -

French air conditioning, lol -

This corner of the house was part of the very old town wall-

Quirky garden statues -

These fabulous little figures hold back the old window shutters-

You'll find cafes in the smallest little villages -

A few pictures of the lovely old church -

It is a rather lovely little town with lots of history, and I thoroughly enjoyed a couple of hours wombling through the little streets. I hope you have enjoyed your visit as well.

Certainly did! What a pretty town and it's all so very French - well of course it is, it is France! Those little ladies for fastening the shutters took my sister-in-laws fancy when she came over from Oz and she even took a pair home with her from M Bricolage!!

Thank you so much for my meander through such wonderful pictures of life at a slower pace with history and architecture which I love so much. Happy photographing...

Beautiful photos, and for me a lovely combination of the new and the familiar. France is wonderfully varied in terms of vernacular architecture, but the 'air conditioning' and the person holding back the shutters are just like the ones I see round here. Lovely tour - thanks!

Liz,
that was a very beautifull trip, through this wonderfull little town. What beautifull architecture, and lovely colors, -so unlike the danish villiges. I have visited France some times, mostly Paris, and then one time Perigoer (does it spell so?) that also was a very little cosy, and beautifull village.
You lives in a fantastic area, Sweetie.
Hugs, and happy evening-
Dorthe

Katie and I thoroughly enjoy those photos. I think I'd have one of the houses with the blue shutters with red geraniums out the front. If anyone's prepared to buy me one that is! I do love France, it's so old and pretty. Makes me feel sooo happy with so much loveliness to take in.

What a pretty town Liz. I wonder what part of France you go to. On our recent visit I was rather disappointed in the villages. They were very clean but rather bare and really not very pretty.
After our lovely time in England two years ago perhaps we were spoilt for pretty villages. I wonder was in just that we were in the wrong part of France and if the southern villages are prettier?
We still have a lot of France to see especially the southern parts and I know that area is very popular with tourists for its climate and scenery. Where would you recommend?
Cheers
Helen

Liz, You make me wanna jump right into the next plane to the South of France and visit such pretty little towns like that one. I also would love to go the farmer's market in Antibes again. The scents are so fabulous and you always get inspired to cook.
Hugs,
Julia
