I can't wait any longer

I was so hoping that we would get a little bit of sunshine, or at least fairly bright weather for an hour or two so that I could take photographs, but, sigh, it just rains and rains and rains. And even when it doesn't rain, it is still so dark that taking pics is almost impossible. But, as the title says, I just couldn't wait any longer, I took some photos, but they really don't do the subject justice. Whats the subject? Ah, you may have already worked that one out, lol. A little while ago, I bought some 'wearable art' from my darling friend Suzy of Suziqu's Threadworks, and it arrived a few days ago. Most of you will have seen pictures of it on a couple of her blog post, but if you are fairly new around here, and haven't come across her yet, then you can drool over her amazing creations HERE.

And here is that awesome piece of wearable art -

At the moment, it is pinned to a lovely long and loose black velvet jacket, but it was impossible to photograph that in this light.

And being the wonderful woman she is, she also sent me some trims and pieces of gorgeous fabrics -

There is only one art brooch left in her Etsy shop as I write this, so if you would love to get your very own piece of Suziqu wearable art, then you had better hurry over HERE.  I absolutely adore mine. Thank you, Suzy, you are amazing!!!

A Blissful Whites Wednesday Mail Day

Rhonda, your timing is perfect! On this horridly wet, grey, dark and dismal day, the postman brought me a little package. I was so excited! I had won Rhonda's latest giveaway a little while ago and I was so looking forward to receiving it. Knowing Rhonda's gorgeous creations, I knew her gifts would fit in perfectly with the Blissful Whites Wednesday party. I wasn't wrong :-). So, instead of the things I thought I was going to show ( boring old French monogrammed linens ;-) ), I am going to show you Rhonda's lovingly put together package, which included so much more than the sweetest little journal I had won -

Beautifully packaged -

Darling little embellishments, including two of her gorgeous little aged heart lockets and a beautiful Marie pendant -

and of course the Giveaway win, the sweetest little journal made with a tintype. Isn't she a little darling? -

And then there was the second bag -

with a collection of wonderful religious images -

and some awesome ephemera -

I am so blessed to count Rhonda amongst my bloggy friends. THANK YOU so much, dear friend.

This lovely package has made me forget all about the horrid weather out there, and it has brought a huge smile to my face. Which had been somewhat grumpy all day, because we lost yet another cricket match in Oz. But who cares about cricket when they are having the bestest Blissful Whites Wednesday?

If you haven't been to Rhonda's blog yet, click HERE to take you there and then you can also drool over all her beautiful things. Her Etsy shop is definitely worth visiting as well!  And if you want to immerse yourself in more white bliss, then check out all the links over at Becky's TIMEWASHED blog, where the Blissful Whites Wednesday party is in full swing.

A wee little fairie and remembering Spring

Over at the lovely Our Beautiful World blog, today's theme is FRESH. I remembered taking a photo last year of a magnolia tree after it had rained, when everything looked so sparkly clean and FRESH. I decided to go with one of those photos -

It is difficult to remember beautifully sunny Spring days right now, when we are having so many cold, grey, rainy days. Even snow would be a welcome change, lol.

Over at the Tag Tuesday blog, the theme for the week was Myths and Legends, and boy, did that give me a headache! There were so many possibilities, unicorns, mermaids, giants, dwarves, leprechauns etc etc., it made my head spin thinking about them all. In the end, I went with fairies. Who doesn't love fairies? I picked a sweet little chubster of a fairie baby and her pet butterflies for the tag -

Wishing you all a great new week, toodlepip xxx

The Velvet Touch

I have been making a few little Suffolk Puffs out of this gorgeous silver grey velvet fabric. They are for a project I have in mind, but knowing me, it will probably just stay in my mind for a long time, lol. It is so relaxing making these little puffs though and the velvet fabric feels so nice, so I might just carry on making them and use them to put into the grey fabric and embellishment kits I occasionally put in my Etsy shop -

You can find more beautiful greys over at Petite Michelle Louise's GREY DEY THURSDEY party.

Blissful Whites Wednesday - Beautiful Handwriting

I adore old letters and documents, the handwriting is always so beautiful. I was going through my stash this morning, trying to find a background for a customer tag, and thought that these lovely pieces would be nice to show for this week's BLISSFUL WHITES WEDNESDAY.

This sweet poem was written inside a 19th Century book -

French 18th Century document -

 Love this signature -

Letter dated  April 1886, Grenoble -

French document dated 31st October, 1842 -

If you would like to drool over lots of gorgeous whites, then head over to TIMEWASHED, where the wonderful Becky is hosting the BLISSFUL WHITES WEDNESDAY party.

Thank  you all so much for visiting. Toodlepip xxx

Our Beautiful World - Time Passing

When I saw the theme for this week I immediately thought of how the passage of time left its mark on buildings. Last summer we went to a little vide grenier in a small village called Trois Vevres and right behind the few stalls was the ruin of a once beautiful building -

I remember one of the stall holders telling me that the building used to be a monastery which was destroyed by fire many years ago. A fascinating building, which must have been so beautiful once upon a time.
