Transport

Yay, finally! I found a good reason to post some photographs I took a couple of months ago. The theme over at the Our Beautiful World blog today is TRANSPORT, and I thought these photographs of vintage French cars would suit the theme well. I came across them at what had been advertised as a brocante, but turned out to be mostly 'collections', all to do with cars. Stall after stall with miniature cars and car related bits etc. They also had a little exhibition of vintage cars. I am not a car enthusiast, but I do love these old girls -

A week ago

we arrived at the cottage and it was bliss. Sunshine, blue sky, so peaceful and quiet and aaahhh, the view! Last Sunday I even managed to get to a brocante and found a few new treasures! Great start, but then, on Monday, I came down with a horrid cold which kept me down for days and I am still fighting it. Feeling a lot better within myself though since yesterday, so I went into our little town and braved the shops yesterday. Glad I did, because I found a little bunch of the most beautiful roses. They are such a delicate cream, green and lightest blush pink -

I fancied a bit of colour as well though, so I brought some of the wisteria in as well -

The wisteria is almost in full bloom now -

I only managed to take a few pics of some of the things I bought at the brocantes, I was too weak during the week to even to hold the camera for long, pathetic,eh? But here they are. A couple of lovely old lace collars -

Tea in the Garden

Well, not today, I am way too busy stuffing my suitcase with all sorts of things to take to my craftavan in France tonight. But I hope to have a cup of tea or two in our French garden tomorrow, yay! Weather is supposed to be very good, temps in the low 20s and sunny, which sounds just lovely.

TEA IN THE GARDEN is the theme for Kimberly's latest ATC swap though, and I just had to get my ATCs done before we toodled off to France. I reduced a sepia copy of an Alice in Wonderland tea party to black and white

and then hand coloured it in with Promarkers and Spectrum Noir pens. Felt about 6 years old, lol. Gotta love colouring in. And then I raided my stash of fabric flowers and applied them to the ATCs -

Back to packing. Oh the decisions to be made, what craft stuff to take, what to leave behind......... I just know that I will realise after a week or so that I have forgotten something vital and will have to ask my darling son to post it to me. Its happened before. Once. Or twice.....

Eggs on my Bird Brain

Since I made those ATCs for Marion's Bird People swap, I have had bird people on the brain. So when I checked this week's Tag Tuesday theme, FANTASTIC AND STRANGE, it just had to be, yes, you guessed it, more bird people, lol! 

This is what I came up with -

And this was the little explanation which went with the tag, about the newly discovered fantastic and strange Bird People of Silk Nest Island -

The island was named by the man who discovered it, Sir Walter Featherbottom. The homes of these exotic creatures are giant nests made with delightfully colourful strips of silk, the origins of which are still very much a mystery. Exploration of the island and search for answers to the many questions these bird people have raised are ongoing.

I am getting very fond of bird people ;-), and I could have written pages and pages about the professor, Sir Walter Featherbottom, and his explorations of Silk Nest Island.


And now to the EGG bit of the blog title. I wanted to post a photo for this week's theme of EGGS over at the Our Beautiful World blog. They are tiny little spun cotton eggs, which I keep in my beautiful and much treasured Shabby nest, one of Vicki's designer nests which she sells to benefit some wonderful charities. If you are really really quick, she has just put six utterly amazing nests in her Etsy shop, and you might be lucky and get your hands on one.
