Paris Pink

What could possibly be better than PINK? Something PINK from PARIS, of course! We went to a big brocante this morning, and once again, it was quite fabulous. I wont tell you any details today, because this is a PINK SATURDAY post, but lets just say I almost ran out of money and filled three shopping bags. But back to PINK  stuff. 


This gorgeously pink thing is a pot de lavement. It used to hang on a wall and had a little rubber seal, which could fold back over the spout, and a little tap as well. These days people love to use them as plant pot holders, or to hold sprigs of dried lavender or dried herbs, kitchen utensils, all kinds of things. I could keep craft supplies in there, rulers, scissors etc.


Ah, this delicious PINK! Isn't it absolutely delightful? Just a little gold trim ( of course, lol, I mean, it IS Parisien after all ), it really is quite an elegant looking piece. Just imagine it in your home, filled with your own sweet somethings -

But also a great laugh, I seem to have a good laugh with most of the people I buy from, bless them. Aaaah, treasures!

Before I start bombarding you with photos of some more brocante finds, I'd like to wish all my wonderful American friends a good Memorial Day weekend.


How do I manage to get so behind with posting pics of brocante/vide greniers finds? I really don't know, darnit, I always have the best intention, but ya know......... Ah well, here is a whole bunch of pics of new treasures, starting with some beautiful religious ones I found recently -

These beautiful antique church pews in solid oak are definitely NOT going into the Etsy shop, lol, they are just a tad too big to post. At the moment they are in the barn, until DH has time to treat them etc. -

 Dang, this post has already gotten quite long, I think I save the other pics for tomorrow, don't want to bore you to sleep. 

And I still haven't taken pics of all my finds, sigh. We went to a brocante this morning. OOOOooooooooh boy, did I have a good time there. I found some beautiful lace, a couple of beautifully monogrammed linen bedsheets, ephemera, sweet little bits and pieces....... Perhaps I'll get a chance tomorrow to catch up on photographing things.

Sunshine, warmth and happiness

YES! We have finally started a little run of warm, sunny days, according to the weather forecast. Didn't think so this morning, it was still grey, overcast and very misty. But around 2pm the sun finally got the better of the clouds and mist, and broke through. Woohoo! It is so lovely to be able to hang the washing out, and see it flapping about on the line. And there is colour in the garden now, the roses are beginning to bud and the little plants I put in a few weeks ago are covered in flowers -

I did loads of laundry this morning, ready for the sun to come out, so after lunch, I thought I could justify an hour or two in the craftavan, catching up on this week's challenges.


TAG TUESDAY's theme this week was FOUND OBJECTS. I had a few things which fitted the bill -
Found whilst digging my veggie patch - 1 large, rusty and very old handmade horseshoe (?) nail
Found just this morning whilst clearing up bits of bark from the firewood stacked outside the cottage - butterfly wings !!! I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw them under some pieces of bark, how lucky was that? They are so delicate, yet so brightly coloured
Found whilst trying to tidy up the hedge at the front - richly coloured dried up bay leaves from the bay tree which had died in February during the really big freeze
Found whilst looking for an envelope in a little drawer in our armoire - dried flowers between lots of cards and paper stuff.

This week's inchie challenge, LABYRINTH, really gave me a headache. There was no way impatient little me would be able to draw a neat little labyrinth on a one inch square, so instead I came up with this -

I just drew the entrance to the labyrinth, lol. Just in case you can't make out what it is, that thing in the middle is the patch, and those green things with brown trunks are meant to be trees, oh, and there are dark green bushes under the trees of course. You don't want any gaps in a labyrinth, do you? Pathetic effort, lol, I know. Ah well, can't win them all.

White Wednesday Surprise

Because most of the brocantes/vide greniers got rained off again on the weekend, we went to a shop which sells used stuff today, mostly to buy some more pots for the garden and a slatted bed base for our old Victorian 4ft bed. I always have a rummage around in the bits and pieces section where I often find sewing stuff. There were a few tins with some buttons in amongst all sorts of other things, and then I spotted a rather large box with peeling mickey mouse sticky stuff all over it. UGLY! Had to open it though, I can't ever resist closed boxes, lol. Inside were sewing supplies, lovely old wooden spools, corset ribbons, sewing needles, all kinds of weird and wonderful stuff.  Hiding under the peeling Mickey Mouse sticky stuff was a sturdy wooden box, so really it had to come home with me. I found some nice MOP buttons in other boxes, and a couple of little tins with hook and eye fasteners. And a little cardboard box, which I didn't even open because it was very light, didn't rattle, and felt empty. But I liked it, so into the big MM box it went. When I got home, I spent half hour or so sorting some buttons, digging around in the MM box and finally came across the little cardboard box as well. Boy, did I get a surprise when I opened it!!!

 The beautiful L monograms couldn't have been more appropriate, me being called Liz, lol -

Wrapped in that little bit of paper with AL stamped on the outside, I found these, the most delightful little A L monograms -

I have seen these on those wonderful antique French nightdresses, as well as on the finest lawn hankies

Isn't it just wonderful when something totally unexpected comes your way? I am so delighted with these little treasures.
