A tale of two fairies

Once upon a time................

errmm, lets not go there, lol, if I start making up a fairy story, this post would turn into a book, and neither you nor me have time for that, lol. Lets just say that having an almost-daughter-in-law and two granddaughters is just wonderful after having 4 men in the house for so very long. Having been deprived of pink things for decades, I can now make up for that, because my girls all love pink, yippeeehh, and all things girlie.

I spotted these two wonderful fairies at the Christmas Fair I was at on the weekend. Pinkiness and girliness galore, yay! I love them both, although they are very different - one is tall and elegant and probably a Fairy Princess, holding court to a whole host of drooling and adoring fairy princes, and the other one is a fat little dumpling of a smiling, generous, comforting fairy godmother.

Lets start with the Fairy Princess. Here she is, sitting in a tree in her Fairy Glen, smiling down at the adoring fairy princes ( just out of the picture, of course, because they are grovelling at her feet ) -

Look at her beautiful dress! The loveliest shade of pink, and lots of sparklies, along with a couple of lacy underskirtsThe back of the dress -

The very gorgeous headdress -
and the back of the headdress -
Lovely, isn't she?

And then there is little dumpling, the chubby, giggly Fairy Godmother

Just look at these chubby little legs -
It is such a pleasure having girls to buy pink fairies for, I am loving it.

Aaaahhh, velvet! Ooooh, ribbons!

Well, I did promise yesterday to post piccies of those totally yummylicious velvet ribbons which my DH has bought me for Christmas ( and which I will tell him about when he asks me what I want for Christmas, lol ).

They are soft, and they are shiny, and they are immensely strokable, and did I mention that they are ever so soft? The colours are gorgeous, mostly pastels, although there are a couple of greens as well. Hmm, you may not think so from the first few pics, because the olive green velvet ribbon didn't photograph well at all. I have no idea why it came out all weird and sickly orangy/mustardy looking in the photos. See that miserable little whatsit on the right hand side? I had to severely photoshop it in the single pic, but I think I got the olive green about right there ( see last single pic ).

Anyway, without further ado, dive into this velvety smoothness, and just imagine running these soft soft soft ribbons through your fingers.......

Of course, you want to see close ups of all the ribbons, don't you? Lol, well, you gonna get them anyway, want them or not!

I know exactly what you are going to ask me now........ what the heck am I going to do with all that yummy scrummy velvety fabulousness? Errm............ apart from fondling and stroking, and oohing and aaahing over, I have no definite plans, some vague ideas of course, yes, but I am open to suggestions!

Time flies

My goodness, I can't believe its been nearly a week since I last posted, where on earth did the days disappear to? I know I spent a lot of hours last week making up gift sets etc for the two day Christmas Fair on Friday and Saturday. I didn't finish pricing up etc until midnight on Thursday, up again at 5.30am on Friday morning, loading the car etc and setting up at the venue at 7.30am. Worn out before it even started, lolol. I took a few pictures as we were all setting up -

It was most definitely worth all the effort and taking tons of gift sets, and it was such a pleasure to see them flying off the table ( so to speak ). Both days were busy busy busy with a pretty steady stream of customers coming through. I didn't have a lot of space and I tried to cram as much as possible into the available space, I even managed to get a few vintage bits and pieces into one corner! Just as well, because I met a lovely couple that way. The gentleman was very interested in the cravats ( ascots ) I had on the stall, kept coming back to them and finally bought one, which he put on immediately and proudly showed off to everybody. He came back again after ten minutes and bought another one, a nice snazzy one, and went off happily with his wife to have lunch. After lunch, guess what? His wife came rushing to my stall asking me to show her the paisley scarves he had also been looking at. We had such a giggle picking one without him noticing and squirrelling it away for a Christmas prezzie. Bless them, they were just wonderful.

The stall holders were great, we were giggling and laughing together whenever we didn't have a customer, and the atmosphere was really lovely, so friendly and relaxed. I wish I could have spent a bit more money than I did, buying little gifts from all of them. There are so many talented people about. It was really nice seeing some familiar faces as well, stall holders I had met before. Of course one had to have a good natter about what fairs one had done etc etc.

Sunday is kinda lost in the mists of time, lol. I got up with the best intentions, looking forward to going to the one bootfair which goes right through the winter, but of course, it was p..ing down, so that was a washout. Had a nice long relaxing bath, read a book, did a bit of this and a bit of that, put the heater on for the doggies to dry out after their very wet walk, and promptly dozed off for the rest of the day. I have no idea where the afternoon went, I vaguely remember snatches of conversation with my DH and my sons, but apart from that the whole afternoon is a blank. Do you ever get Sundays like that?

So, all the things I had planned to do on Sunday, I had to do today. That included making more of the healing balm, clearing up the frightful mess I had made last week whilst making up the gift sets, booking our trip to France, laundry etc etc etc. And finally, this evening, I got the chance to read the blogs I follow. How on earth can there be soooooooooooo many posts to read after just a few days??? It took me ages, absolute ages, and I didn't even get the time to leave comments. So apologies to all you wonderful bloggers, whose blogs I follow and love to read. I'll do better this week, promise!

I was so happy to hear that the postal dispute has finally been resolved and we are back to normal again. It means I can now post the 100th post giveaway parcel, woohoo! Oh, and a couple of other parcels, which may or may not be winging their way to far away places. Oh oh, oh, and it also meant that I have received parcels! Mostly quite boring stuff, supplies like oils and butters, and lip balm tubes, that sort of thing. But one other parcel also managed to reach me last week......... a christmas prezzie which my DH has bought me. Well, he doesn't know yet that he has bought it for me, but I'll tell him in due course. I'll take pics tomorrow. Darn, I am drooling just thinking about that little parcel now, I might just have to go and do some fondling, lolol. And before you start thinking I have gone completely nuts, I had better tell you what it is ................
sigh, a little box full of the most delicious, scrumptious, wonderfully tactile and immensely strokable and fondlebable velvet ribbons! See? Not nuts at all, I am sure you all agree, velvet ribbons are totally fondlebable. They have to be touched and oohed and aaahed over.

Thats all for now, there are bound to be a few more new posts I want to read before I go to bed. So night night all, xx

Trying to catch up

My posting is a wee bit erratic at the moment, I am working my little behind off getting ready for a two day Christmas Fair this week. So I am a few days behind myself bloggingwise, lol.

It was a grotty, dark grey, very wet and windy weekend. But that didn't deter us from donning bad weather gear, wrapping up granddaughter Paige, getting our two very excitable Ridgebacks into the back of the car and heading off to the woods on Saturday. Nuts or what, lol? Despite the horrid weather, we had a fabulous time. We had caught a bit of a lull in the weather and got away with drizzle for most of the walk -

I really wanted to take some pictures of fungi, which I had admired a few days earlier. On a very lovely sunny day that was, of course I didn't have my camera with me then, sod's law. Anyway, here we are setting off -

Because of the constant drizzle, there wasn't much colour around, but I do love the different greens of mosses and lichen -

Oh, and of course, chestnuts glow in any kind of weather, don't they? -

The dogs go completely doolally in the woods. There is soooo much space for them to run around in, as those woods are very well kept -

The only problem is, with all those browny reddy leaves and ferns around, the dogs blend in every so well, and sometimes its really hard to spot them, lol -

You only realise they are still around when you see them streaking through the ferns and leaves at what seems like 250mph -

Unless, of course, Poppy decides to take a mud bath -

I find fungi endlessly fascinating and I did manage to take a few photos, although I had to take most of them with flash. When we were little, our parents would take us to the woods every autumn to collect wild fungi and we would have a huge mushroom feast in the evening. My mouth is watering just thinking about that, mushies gently frying in butter, just with chopped onions, salt and pepper and eaten with freshly baked buttered bread. I wish I still knew how to tell the edible ones from the poisonous ones, but I really wouldn't trust myself these days.

I have no idea what sort of fungi I have photographed (except the fly agaric, the pretty and very poisonous red one ), so no text to go with them. Just enjoy the pics, well, if you enjoy looking at fungi at all, that is, lol.

Some of them are very hard to spot amongst the leaves, they know how to hide themselves well, like these in the next couple of photos -

Despite being somewhat damp around the edges, we came home grinning happily, with two very mucky and thankfully very tired doggies. Bliss.
