France Post 5 - A Little Bit of Nature

So many of the blogs I am reading at the moment are in full Halloween mode, so hopefully this post won't scare too many of you, lol. It is all about SPIDERS! Hah, gotcha, lol. I can hear you going eeeeeek and noooooooo. Actually, it is not that bad, it is only about SPIDERWEBS. Because I love them. They are the most awesome things and have always fascinated me. We do get more than our fair share of spiders at the cottage. I don't mind them outside, even when I get covered in spider silk when I take the dogs out for a walk first thing in the mornings. They spin their walkways right across the little lane. In the house is a different matter though, spiders have to be removed as soon as they are spotted, lol. I really don't fancy the idea of a spider making merry in my hair when I am asleep. But still, overnight spiderwebs appear as if by magic, in a corner or between beams.

But back to the spiderwebs outside. The way they sparkle when the early morning sunlight touches the dew on them is just stunning, don't you think? -

On the ground, the webs are really dense, almost like a cloth -

and this just shows you that I wasn't kidding when I said we have rather more than our fair share, lol, a whole army of spiders must have been at work here overnight -

There, thats it, you can now breathe again, have a cup of tea or coffee and relax. Tomorrow I'll get on to the linens I brought back from France. So for now, have a happy week, toodlepip, xxx

  3. Stunning photos Liz ! We have had loads of spiders in the house in the last couple of days, must be all the rain, the children are convinced that a huge one that I put out the bathroom window is the same one that was in the bath last night !

  4. Lovely lovely pics, just as well you're not an arachnophobe then. I don't mind spiders but I wouldn't want them 'making merry in my hair' either!! What a thought ..

  6. Hi Liz!
I stopped by to see what is going on with you. I need to catch up on your posts because it's been awhile since I've visited.
I can see you are having fun with the spider webs. Your photos are amazing and the webs look like lovely works of art.

Cannot wait to see your linens from France. I know I'll be drooling all over the place.

Well, I'm off to go snooping around your blog to see what you been up to.

    hugs

  8. Your pictures are beautiful, Liz! I love spiderwebs and I don't mind spiders either. I find them very amazing and if there are not too many in the house, I leave them inside. When I think some have to go, I use a glass and a piece of cardboard to take them outside :-).
    Have a great afternoon!
    Hugs,
    Julia

  9. I'll try to take some pics of what Portuguese spiders get up to - we get the most enormous webs there sometimes. Don't mind the webs, it's the monsters that create them I'm not all that keen on lol

  11. So beautifull photoes, dear Liz,
This is realy natures beauty, when it is in its most gorgeus scenes.
And bathed in dew they are like fairytales.
I,too have lots of spiders, also inside...try to get them out alive,--but some have to dye inside the wacoom cleaner!!!!
Hope your day was great, sweet.
    Love to you, and hugs.

  12. Beautiful. They look like dewdrop doilies, don't you think? I love them on the lawn, I have taken photos from ground level of them there and they look like gossamer tents...great post!

  13. French spiders make incredible webs! Did you know they use to lay an intact spider web on a wound to help heal it? Can't wait to see the linens!

  14. I think Spider Webs are an art form all their own, and you captured some beautiful ones.
They remind me of finely crocheted doilies.

    Thanks for sharing with us.

  15. They ARE beautiful, Liz. They're the original lace makers. I can do without their residents though! Hubby almost put his hand on one in our rose bush last evening when he went to smell a blossom.
Several years ago we stayed at a parsonage nearby where you live - a 600 year-old building - and the proprietress actually picked up a spider who was perched on a lampshade and deposited him in her hand outside! Oh my! Not this gal! LOL!
    Hugs to you!

  16. I actually Was holding my breath, hoping the pictures would be of just the webs! Wow... these photos are beautiful. The intricate spinnings, laden with dew... gorgeous! The last picture of the field looks as though hundreds of faeries were busy overnight weaving nets among the grasses :-)

  17. Hi Liz,
beautiful photos - I panic if I see a spider but I think the spider webs are just beautiful - if there is no spider inside.
    Have a wonderful day.
